Our Ethos - Attend, Behave and Engage (ABE)

Attending school every day is important, missing a day or lesson is losing the opportunity to learn.

Behaving in school is crucial to you allowing yourself and others the chance to progress in lessons.

Engaging in lessons and intervention allows you to understand and develop deeper thinking, ultimately improving your success in exams.

What is meditation?

Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

Bet you didn’t know making your bed or listening to music was meditation?! Do something you love to meditate.

The Oak National Academy

The Duchess of Cambridge will lead an online assembly for the Oak National Academy during which she will speak about the importance of mental wellbeing among children. The theme of the Duchess’ assembly is ‘spread a little kindness’ and is based on a lesson plan which is available on the Mentally Healthy Schools platform. This platform was developed in collaboration with children’s mental health charity Place2Be and encourages children to explore ways in which they can show kindness and recognise the benefits of kindness to others.

The Mentally Healthy Schools platform can be accessed here:

The assembly will be live on the Oak National Academy website at 11am on Thursday 18 June and can be accessed here:

Cultural, Social, Moral:

We are told to follow the rules of the UK but sometimes we disagree with them and sometimes we think that those in charge don’t listen to us. We need to remember this is a bizarre situation that we have not been in, they are doing what they think is right. Do you agree?
